Virginia clay artist Sheila Armel sculpts a ceramic celebration of the natural world. From creatures of the land, sea and sky, to the organic forms that shape our world: her work is earth-bound, and expresses profound respect for the lives and experiences of the creatures who inhabit it, both fauna and flora. She produces works on commission and for market.
Sheila is a seasoned pet and wildlife rescue volunteer who shares her life with a variety of happy creatures, including chickens, cats, dogs, miniature donkeys and horses. After becoming vegan In 1995, she began to look at the world around her in a different way; realizing that kindness and empathy for all life, both human and other animals, is a strength and not a weakness.
